Children in the North Allegheny School District in grades K-8 are scheduled to return to full in-person instruction on January 19th. Following the lead of the NA school district, we are planning to return to onsite Good Shepherd sessions the week of January 18th. This, of course, is subject to change based on the ever changing state of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As of now, we look forward to safely welcoming everyone back to the atrium beginning Monday, January 18th and plan on following the safety measures outlined below.
The following policies will be in effect for onsite CGS sessions.
Prior to each Good Shepherd session, please ask yourself the following questions. If you answer “Yes” to any of the items below, please do not send your child to Good Shepherd.
Has my child had a fever as defined by the CDC during the past 24 hours?
Has my child had a new or unexpected cough during the past 7 days?
Has my child been around anyone exhibiting these symptoms within the past 14 days?
Is my child living with anyone who has been sick, has exhibited symptoms of COVID-19, or is currently under quarantine for exposure to COVID-19?
Has my child traveled internationally within the last 14 days?
Has my child traveled to a state identified by the PA Department of Health as having high amounts of COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days?
Has my child disregarded CDC guidelines and failed to limit his/her exposure to COVID-19?
In the event your child develops symptoms or suspected symptoms of COVID-19 or other illness, or if otherwise requested by the Director, at his/her discretion, you will be contacted by the office, and will make immediate preparations to have your child picked up from Good Shepherd.
Children and adults will be required to wear masks for the duration of the atrium session.
Each child will be required to have their own slippers, mask, pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpener, glue stick, scissors, small package of Kleenex, small bottle of hand sanitizer and their own bottle of water. All items should be kept together in a box or bag and will travel back and forth with the child between the home and the atrium.
Classes will be limited to 9 children in the atrium to maintain social distancing.
All children will be required to sanitize their hands prior to entering the atrium.
Parents of Level II children will drop them off at the front door (lower parking lot) where they will meet their catechist upon arrival. Pick up will also be from this front door.
Parents of Level III children will drop them off at the rear door (upper parking lot) where they will meet their catechist upon arrival. Pick up will also be from this rear door.
Even if you are transporting children from both levels in the same car, please drop them off and pick them up at the appropriate doors to maintain proper social distancing for all children.
Children’s temperatures will be checked upon arrival. If a child is found to have an elevated temperature, he or she will be sent home.
Sessions will be 1 hour long.
Children will have individual seating 6 feet apart.
Every effort will be made to maintain social distancing. However there may be times when moving about the atrium when children are not spaced 6 feet apart. Therefore, masks will be required.
Desk surfaces will be cleaned with Clorox wipes after each session.
Materials will be treated with Penetrexx Antimicrobial Surface Protection regularly. Penetrexx has been approved for use by the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
